Some of you may be familiar with me, some will be asking why am I looking at a middle aged man at a Greek Taberna on a Mediterranean shore...

Take a moment, or even a few, to learn a little of me with the hope of inducing a smile or sharing, in real life, an intoxicating and unforgettable sailing experience.

I'm Daniel, and I share my beautiful Beneteau 473 with those curious enough to take to the sea.
I'm Daniel, and I share my beautiful Beneteau 473 with those curious enough to take to the sea.

I'm Daniel, recently 50 and retired 2 years ago from 20-odd years in the corporate rat race.

I've lived and worked in Africa, Europe (and the UK) and the Middle East. University educated, with a penchant for travel, I've made the most of my postings around the world.

I have sailed most of my life, both professionally and for pleasure. In subsequent posts, I'll share more detail of how I got to where I am now, but for now let me just share what I am currently doing that you may find of interest.

During the Mediterranean summers I cruise around Greece and Italy and share my floating home with others. Others - being those looking to take a break to achieve one, or all, of the following things:

  • Decompress and recharge from a hectic, cluttered life and let the water, sun and wind cleanse and rejuvenate them

  • Learn or brush up on their basic sailing skills

  • Discover new places rarely accessed with curiosity

  • Discover the food and wine of the Mediterranean coastline.

As a competent and laid back host, I curate these kinds of experiences.

In the winters I leave my yacht somewhere safe and hit the road to either bike-pack or travel independently to interesting places like China, East and South east Asia, South America and Australia.

I also tend to follow the wine worlds between the 30th and 40th parallel to taste and learn the local wine and food culture.

Endorse everything you say Dan. Our family trip with you around the Ionian in 2024 was a fantastic experience.
